Today we propose to close your eyes and think of six destinations that make us travel completely differently. From tasting a wine in a winery in La Rioja, passing through a simple hiking trail, transporting ourselves in a time capsule to the Spanish civil war, tasting tapas while visiting one town after another, contemplating the wonder of nature in one of the most important wetlands in Spain or even move to Mars without having to take a spaceship. 6 completely different activities that you can surely identify with any of them.

Route of Cares

Inland tourism for all tastes

Both me and my brother Javier live in downtown cities where inland tourism is quite common. There every weekend thousands of cars stampede out looking for a place away from smoke and stress, the majority staying no more than 100 kilometers from the capital.

6 indoor tourism destinations for all tastes

Perhaps the best of all is to live in a country like this where diversity is so great that it doesn't matter if we pull north or south as we will always find something special. That is what we propose today, indoor destinations, away from the busy beaches that we particularly try to avoid.

1 The ghost town of Belchite (Aragon)

Any war brings destruction and sadness beingBelchite A good reflection of it. Walking through its streets makes you become a child by drawing your imagination in every corner you visit. Mortar noises fired from the Plaza Nueva, submachine gunshots or howitzers that fell in the main church of the town constantly flow through our head.

Bombed Belchite

Although it seems a lie, this bleak image of the Spanish civil war is still preserved, being a place of remembrance of what should never be repeated.

2 Travel to Mars through the mines of Rio Tinto (Andalusia)

Why the engineers of the POT Do they open fixed so much in a place north of Huelva? Simply because it has an extraordinary resemblance to the conditions that a hypothetical astronaut would encounter when he first stepped on the red planet.

The Rio Tinto mines were a mining enclave from which various minerals were extracted, among which were pyrite and calcopririte, which stain the waters of the Rio Tinto color and hence their appearance alien.

3 Visit wineries in La Rioja

A fun and enjoyable activity is a visit to a winery. In La Rioja we have so many that we could lose hours in choosing the most appropriate one. An example is found in Bodegas Vivanco, located in Rioja Alta and where we will find a Tempranillo grape among many others.

In addition to its modern and functional cellar, built in the basement to avoid damaging the environment, the other strong point of Vivanco in its Museum of Wine Culture, an authentic banner of art with wine as an inspiration that has been named the “ Best Wine Museum in the World ”by the UNWTO. The artistic heritage exhibited in it covers a journey of more than 8,000 years through the history of wine, from utensils, cultivation tools and cultivation of the vineyards, to works by artists such as Picasso, Miró, Sorolla and Genovés.
If you plan to go to La Rioja soon, take the opportunity to do so in October as it is full vintage season. The landscapes are impressive at this time of year and you can also practice activities (both for adults and children) that go through vintage practices in vineyards, wine tasting courses, wine tasting, special vintage menu at the Vivanco restaurant . You can find out here.

4 Hiking on the peaks of Europe (Asturias)

Hear the word Picos de Europa It is almost synonymous with great landscapes but in turn of strong ramps only suitable for the fittest mountaineers. Myths apart, one can always find routes for all audiences and enjoy the landscape without having to train for months. An example of this is the acclaimedroute of Cares, an almost flat route that runs through a narrow ravine.

5 Watching birds on the Tables of Daimiel (Castilla la Mancha)

Nature is something that we particularly like and even more so when we can observe animals in their wild environment, as is the case with the Daimiel Tables. A national park where marshes and birds are the main protagonists.

Daimiel tables

Your visit is completely free and very well defined so that any type of public can enjoy it. Wooden walkways and booths where a small window opens a world to ornithology. An experience

6 From town to town in the Sierra de Francia (Castilla León)

The towns of the Sierra de Francia are in a natural setting of a pretty captivating beauty. Surrounded by forests and gentle mountains, they transport us to such a rural environment that makes us quickly forget our hardships of the big city.

The pool

The Pool and Mogarraz may be their two most recognized villages, but in the Batuecas there are places as unique as the rock of France, San Martín del Castañar, among many others. A place that we personally liked a lot and that we will probably return sooner rather than later.
